One of the characteristics that makes MGroup™ a successful company is our incredible employees in all areas of our business. Whether they are customer-facing or behind-the-scenes, MGroup™ would not be who we are today without them. One of those behind-the-scenes staff is John Cleaveland.
John has been with MGroup™ for 8 years and is a staple to the MGroup™ family. John’s rich background both personally and in work experience is what makes him so special to us. John is a veteran navy fighter pilot. He earned two master degrees with one in Architecture and one in Construction Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He redesigned our headquarters, the Meridien House, and our Annex building. Furthermore, he planned and implemented our warehouse and samples inventory program. Without John’s extensive background and efforts, our worldwide shipments and general operations wouldn’t be nearly as sufficient. What is your role at MGroup™?
JC: My role is Project Manager. Generally, this involves operations, shipment logistics, information technology, and project management. I manage all shipment logistics, including brokerage, insurance, bonding, and coordination with our off-shore partners and freight forwarders. I maintain import knowledge relative to tariffs, taxes, and miscellaneous fees. I also create and sustain company estimation and quotation templates, establish and monitor operational processes and procedures and manage the company warehouse to maintain and provide products to clients as required.
How long have you been with MGroup™?
JC: I have been an employee at MGroup for 8 years since April of 2013.
What do you enjoy most about working for MGroup™?
JC: My wonderful group of associates and the allowance to self direct.
What is your experience and background?
JC: I graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and received two master’s degrees – one in Architecture and the other in Construction Engineering. I’ve held senior leadership positions at Georgia Institute of Technology and The University of Montana. Prior to working with MGroup and more recently, I was a regional general contractor.
What are the values that drive you?
JC: I strive for excellence in process and operational efficiency, and I enjoy sharing experiences and contributing to the training of new MGroup employees.
